On Friday, May 10th, 2019, BLS A.S.I.A. hosted its annual Asian Night. This year's theme was Take A Bow. We wanted to emphasize the massive strides made in recent years with Asian-American representation in the Western media through the popularization of movies, television shows, and music groups like 88rising, Crazy Rich Asians, Patriot Act, Kim's Convenience, and so much more.

We had fantastic performance this year, from traditional and modern dancing to amazing musical talent to a tear-jerking goodbye to our wonderful senior officers. Asian Night: Take A Bow was a night filled with community, culture, and memories that will never be forgotten. Hi friends!

We hope you had a fun and relaxing spring break! When we come back, A.S.I.A. has another fun and educational event for you all! We will be hosting a workshop on political climate in Asian countries, specifically focusing on four issues: ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, ethnic cleansing of Uyghur Muslims in China, ambiguous economic zones in Vietnam, and the drug war in the Philippines. We will also be holding a discussion on the importance of acknowledgement and lack of media coverage around these events. We hope to see you all there!

Hi Everyone!

In case you missed it, BLS A.S.I.A. hosted our first-ever workshop on Asian-American identity in the Seevak Room. We discussed the effects of representation in the media, stereotypes, and cultural misunderstanding among many other important topics. Thank you to all who participated!

Additionally on the theme of Asian-American media representation, we will be hosting a screening of the film Crazy Rich Asians on Friday, March 22nd, in the Seevak Room as well! If you attended our workshop on Tuesday, March 19, and signed in, you will be able to attend this screening for free (click here to check if you did)! Otherwise, tickets will be $1. Hope to see you all there!
